Obviously we've been using other mediums for virtual socialization for a while now. I've found that Facebook is a more convenient and (theoretically) less time consuming method for staying up to date and letting others know what's going on around the house. Even though its a little easier to maintain, it also comes up short when a story needs to be told in more than two sentences, so don't give up blog hope just yet!
My long term MO is to post more frequently on FB, but also provide a monthly update on spambananagrits, then link to that from FB so both sides are covered. Now if I could just get the time and ambition to do it!
If you haven't explored FB or Twitter, here's my opinion of where they fit in with each other (like anybody cares):
Twitter - Low detail, informal updates. Good for minute-by-minute updates from your cell phone about how exciting your workplace is on Tuesday afternoons. The tweet is basically broadcast to all that follow you.
Facebook - A great central point for keeping up with the Joneses because all your friends updates are placed onto your news feed. You don't have to go from one site to the next. Easy to post updates, pictures from your smartphone, and share URL's from the web that interest you with just a couple clicks.
Blogger - I still think this is the best medium for actually telling a story. There is plenty of space for text and the pictures can embedded right in. For some reason though, I always feel like I need to be more verbose on a blog post, which leads to taking more time, which leads to less frequent posts...
Anyway, feel free to send Sam or Shanna a FB friend request so we can stay in touch! If you don't use it, give it a whirl and if you're nervous about how it works just let me know and I can provide some privacy/control tips. -Spam
